New Business

Some inspirations for the first element. Lots and lots of knits planned.

Project Spectrum-fire

And a wonderful, thanks to an amazing fellow blogger, Tiennie, who named me for this:

Make My Day

So many people inspire and make my days better through their beautiful knits, photography, their incredible kindness and their great humor. Here are just a few of the blogs of people that keep me smiling and sometimes even laugh out loud:

Criminy Jickets

KnitPastis
Schrodinger Knits
Knittypants
LollyKnitting Around
brooklyntweed
Annie Knits
hpnyknits
The A.D.D. Knitter
FiddlesticKnitting

and of course, tiennie knits

If you haven’t checked out these great knitters, please take the time. There are just tons more, and I appreciate all the wonderful posts and projects that make up our little (really quite huge) community.

There are lots and lots of projects I’m working to get off the needles in the coming weeks, and still more things I’ll be starting for PS and more. Here’s to a happy and fullfilling New Year.

Oh yeah, and hope you enjoy the new design!! I’ve wanted a total redesign of the blog for a long time, but have no major web skills to figure out all the functionality of it. So HUGE thanks to a certain boyfriend/web developer, who took my ideas and whipped them into this great layout in record speed last night. Hope you all like it!

Where did you go?

Good question. Seems I somehow got lost way back around early Dec. So, let’s play a little catch up shall we?

In the rush and bustle of Christmas and the new year, I managed to finally get the Linden sleeve debacle sorted out.

linden

project: Linden
source: RYC Classic Alpaca
yarn: RYC Cashsoft dk - every last bit of 9 balls
color: mirage
needles: #3 & #6 circs &dpns

It actually wasn’t that the sleeves grew so much, but the whole sweater did. You can see that the shoulder seams stretched way wider, and that makes the sleeves droop. I re-knit them and shortened them just enough.

On top of all that trouble, I didn’t even get to mention last time, that before I even finished the sleeves, I RAN OUT OF YARN! I ended up ripping half of the bottom ribbing just to have enough yarn to complete it. In the end, the sweater is really nothing like the one in the pattern book. But I still love to wear it, roomy, comfy and super soft.

Right before the holidays amidst all this sleeve hoopla, I whipped up a little more Noro goodness to cheer myself up…

noro mitts

…well, they WERE for me, but all I had to say was they were a tad big, and some certain boyfriend snatched them right up. Guess I’ll be knitting up a new pair for myself.

But who could get angry when he springs these amazing presents on me for Christmas.

These are Ewe and Me figures from Toni Goffe . I had never heard of them before, but I have started a bit of a sheepy collection, and just look at that stitch definition!

Also, a shirt by my favorite person, on the best show ever.

And lastly, a present for myself, beacause I’m greedy like that.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! I’ve got tons of blogs to catch up on, to find out what all of you have been up to. Now back to your usual Project Spectrum Eve programming.

Finish Line

It took a little longer than expected, but the second NaKniSweMo sweater is off the needles.

cozy v-neck

project: Cozy V-Neck with Deep Ribbing
source: Fitted Knits
yarn: Cascade Pastaza - 6 hanks
color: #85 blue-green
needles: #7 & #9 circs &dpns

cozy v-neck

A little late, but a very warm sweater. This is my first finished project from Fitted Knits (you may remember the other knit I started back in the summer, just can’t seem to get into the cottons right now). It’s a pretty fast project, and as expected a super easy and wonderful pattern to follow.

I used the recommended yarn for this, and the heathery colors blend beautifully together. But even after a good soaking and blocking, darn is it itchy! Definitely do not attempt to wear this one with just a tiny tee underneath.

And a scarf has also made it way into the FO pile:

noro striped scarf

project: Noro Striped Scarf
source: brooklyntweed
yarn: Noro Silk Garden
color: 2 balls #249, 1 ball each #247 & #243
needles: #8 straights

noro striped scarf

These scarves have been everywhere, each one more stunning than the next. I just couldn’t resist a little Noro magic to break up all the heavy sweater lifting while participating in NaKniSweMo. It was a nice interruption from the “will it fit” mindset I have been in for the past few weeks.

I think the colorways worked together pretty well, and I have to say, just for its stripey goodness factor, I’ll probably be wearing it every possible second. Or at least until I knit up another one.

Off to drool over some new Knitty (it’s HERE!!), and today is Wednesday, so a night of knitting and Project Runway, here I come!
