Quack!

Long time no post! (what else is new…)

So what’s been on my needles lately?

duckies.jpg

Here’s a pair of socks made with the new sKNITches cashmere blend yarn, Big Tryst!

project: Duckies
source: my own
yarn: sKNITches Big Tryst - 1 hank
color: Cinnamon Teal Duck
needles: #3 dpns

Duckies

The pattern is one I improvised, a little rib with a cute little eyelet detail I’m calling “duck trails” down the leg/foot. The eyelet pattern comes from Harmony Guides Knitting Stitches vol. 2.

Duckies

There is a bit of concern with the yardage of this yarn. It is pre-cut from the manufacturer at a little over 250 yds/4 oz. It is a pretty thick yarn, more dk weight really, so larger needles really helps stretch the yardage along. I definitely wanted to have an example pair for people wanting to knit up some socks with this lovely blend.

Duckies

Of course the yarn would also be great for mitts, cowls, hats—anything at all!

Duckies

Now come on, these knitted up super fast, so what else has been going on in my absence?

Pillars

project: Pillars of Atlantis
source: free pattern
yarn: Fresh from the Cauldron Saturday Morning Cartoons - 1 hank
color: Strawberry Shortcake
needles: #2 dpns

I’ve had these on my Ravelry projects page for quite some time, but never blogged them. Well, here they are finally finished!

Pillars

Total love for these. The little spurts of color really make me smile, so much fun and color with these, and the mini cables were simple simple to do.

Pillars

I didn’t forget about Project Spectrum either, the Air collage is coming soon, and more finished knits (and promise, they won’t all be socks)!

Movin’ Right Along…

…at least I’m moving on some PS Earth projects. And I’ve got one straggler Fire project finished, although I won’t get much use out of it now.

Here and There Scarf

project: Here and There Cables
source: Scarf Style
yarn: Malabrigo - 2 hanks
color: Brown Berries
needles: #9 needles

Here and There Scarf

Of course the yummy Malabrigo is lovely on the neck, so away it goes till next winter. But on to the socks!

Spindle Socks

project: Spindle Socks
source: My Fashionable Life
yarn: Sweet Georgia Speed Demon - 1 hank
color: Omakase 10
needles: #2 needles

Spring has sprung (believe me, my itchy eyes and nose are telling me so!) What can I say, a perfect colorway for the season, PS earth, and it complimented the pattern pretty well too.

Spindle Socks

I actually screwed up the cable pattern on the first sock. If you take a look at the progress pic in the last post, all my cables go the same way, instead of switching direction every group of 3. Of course I didn’t even realize until I started the second one and actually read the directions! Oh well, a little design element anyone? :)

Spindle Socks

And we’re on a roll, for now we move into the brown part of PS Earth:

Terra Firma Ribs

project: 3×1 ribs
source: no pattern
yarn: Socks that Rock Mediumweight - 1 hank
color: Terra Firma
needles: #2 needles

Yes, I whipped these babies up too, thanks to the Mediumweight STR. My very first time knitting it up, and what a yarn! Love it.

Terra Firma Ribs

Just a simple 3×1 rib pattern. I had wanted to knit Cookie’s BFF socks, but got terrible pooling down one side, so after just a couple of inches, RIP!

Terra Firma Ribs

Terra Firma Ribs

I definitely plan on getting some other kinds of projects knitted up soon. But I don’t know, what is it about warm weather and socks that just feels so right?

Earth Girls are Eas—well you know

Now I know I haven’t finished my Fire projects yet, but would that stop me from diving right in to the next Project Spectrum theme?

Project Spectrum EARTH

First on the needles, some yummy Spindle Socks (I’m back on my all-about-the-socks kick—BEWARE!)

Spindle Socks

How quickly these are going! I haven’t worked on sport/dk weight socks in quite a while, but I couldn’t resist me some aptly named Sweet Georgia Speed Demon. They may even be finished by my next post! (And promise, it won’t be a month from now)

Spindle Socks
Look at those colors!

P.S. Thanks to everyone for your wonderful comments on all my sweaters last post. I swear I don’t knit that fast, just a tendency to leave mostly-done projects languishing about for quite a while.
