NaKniSweNoRoMo?
Note to Self:

Apparently RYC Cashsoft grows a bit when blocked. I am now the not-so-proud owner of a lovely sweater with orangutan sleeves. Meet me at the frog pond.
SIGH.
(The fact that the sleeves were almost too long to begin with didn’t help either).
Now for the good stuff. Finished NaKniSweMo Hourglass pics!

I didn’t even realize when I chose this, but it’s very timely, both for NaKniSweMo and Norovember.
project: Hourglass
source: Last-Minute Knitted Gifts
yarn: Noro Cash Iroha - 9 hanks
color: #81 pale green
needles: #7 circs

Thank goodness it fits! I was all set to knit the 37″ size, when I decided to check out Ravelry for info on the yarn (after the Linden giant sleeve fiasco, I wasn’t taking chances). Good thing. Cash Iroha apparently grows quite a bit when blocked. So, the smallest size was knitted up instead. Then I held my breath.

This was it before blocking. See how short it is! I felt like a stubby wide box.

But afterwards, just as everyone said, the yarn relaxed and really lengthened quite a bit, easing into a nice fit.

Since Hourglass was on the blocking board, I decided to go ahead and begin a second NaKniSweMo project. No reason to get crazy about the stitch count again though, this time, I’m going for chunky.

This is the Cozy V-Neck Pullover from Fitted Knits. Three days of knitting, I knew a bigger gauge would move along quicker, and don’t think I chose seamless sweaters by accident either.
Hopefully I won’t get too slowed down by all the holiday feasting. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Thanks for showing the difference between Cash Iroha before and after blocking. Amazing, I will keep this in mind for whenever I knit with it.
Your Hourglass is beautiful, the fit is lovely.
Too bad about the sleeves, so frustrating, can you just reknit them or is the whole sweater in trouble?

i LOVE your finished hourglass. i MUST finish mine. it’s been sitting in a pile for two years. i hate when you work on a project and it’s all for naught.
i’m also working on a pattern from Fitted Knits. i can’t wait to see your progress.

Oh is there any possible way that you can shorten those sleeves so the sweater will fit you properly. At least your hourglass turned out perfectly, and I like the chunky knit too.

So glad the Hourglass grew for you! As for the Linden, can you just reknit the sleeves?

Oh wow it looks fantastic on you, that green color is a stunner…and I can believe you said you resembled ‘a stubby wide box’. Try shapely, gorgeous babe!

Your Hourglass sweater looks amazing! Congrats on such a great FO. I hope it lessens the pain of frogging for the first sweater with the huge sleeves…. I wish yarn companies would tell you on the label just how much it might grow….

I love your Hourglass sweater and how it looks on you! I am beginning to realize the importantance of blocking:)
That Rowan Cashsoft yarn made for an awesome knitted sweater though! Sorry about the sleeve. I bet this yarn was nice to work with though.

What a shame about the long sleeved sweater - but at least you have that beautiful hourglass to cheer you up.

Hello there! Popping through and I have to say I love the Noro Sweater!! I’m working on a Central Park Hoodie and although I’m not using Noro you have inspired me to continue on and not be afraid of the fit. Blocking does wonders!!
