Is it possible to fall in love with a pair of socks?

project: Uptown Boot Socks
source: Favorite Socks
yarn: A Piece of Vermont Superwash Wool/Nylon Sock - 1 hank
color: Brick House
needles: #1 dpns

These are definitely one of my favorite pairs. The colors are just gorgeous, satisfying while not obscuring the pattern at all.

Initially, I wondered if I was knitting the pattern wrong somehow–they didn’t look anything like the picture in the book. The mini-cables look flat on the needles, until you stretch the sock out a bit, then suddenly they pop open.

The Cable Rib socks are also done.

project: Cable Rib Socks
source: Favorite Socks
yarn: Knit Picks Essential Tweed - 2 skeins
color: Inca Gold
needles: #1 dpns
The tweedy bits were a good choice for these, keeping the stitches well defined, but adding tiny bursts of color for some extra interest. And they’re very comfy socks too, though maybe not the most exciting.

I’ve started on Sahara, also. So far working with the Classic Elite Bamboo I chose for it has been wonderful. So much sheen and softness.

Speaking of sheen, I managed to get my Summertime Tunic all knitted up as well.

project: Summertime Tunic
source: IK - free pattern
yarn: Lion Brand Microspun - 4 skeins
color: Sterling
needles: #3 & #5 circs
Instead of ribbon for the straps/ties, I braided several strands of the Microspun together.

Although I really loved the IK pic, I have to say I’m not really a huge fan of it on me. I think the dropped waist just doesn’t flatter me all that well.

The Leaf Tee is just about done too, so pics next time. My mind has been heading towards Fall in a big way, but I will try to focus my energies on getting a bit more summery knits completed. Not to encourage me (Ravelry’s pattern browser encourages me plenty), but what’s everyone else looking forward to in the fall, knitting or otherwise?
*Little side note: No it’s not your eyes. I did a tiny bit of tweaking of the colors and header of the blog, likey? ![]()

Okay where to start!?! you packed a punch with this post
I adore the Boot socks. That yarn seems to match the pattern impeccably. They look very tall - are they up to your knees?
Love the little summery tank. such a cute and simple design.

Your projects are gorgeous! You have such beautiful taste and make choices for your yarn/patterns together. I like the new blog look too. I love these colors together - kinda like my blog colors - but you do it so much better!

Wow, those Uptown Boot Socks are absolutely gorgeous! What a great collection of FOs and projects you have going on. I’ve mostly read your posts through bloglines, so I can’t say I noticed any changes on the blog, but I do like the colors and header you have!

Is it possible to fall in love with a pair of socks?
-YES! Especially when they are the ones featured on your blog. Lovely as usual…love the redesign.

I love both socks! The Uptown Boot socks especially! I tell you, seeing socks knit up rather than flat in a book, quite the difference. I want to knit socks I thought were quite ugly in the book!
I love the top on you, but you gotta love it on you too!
I likey the new look!

Oh, there are so so so many things to fall in love with here: the socks, for sure, but also the tunic (I think it looks great on you!), and the classic elite bamboo, and the blog colors. So so many good things in this post. Thanks!
Oh, right, you asked about fall projects: I’d like to knit most everything out of the upcoming Fall IK issue, esp. Eunny’s sweater and the socks by Ann Budd. I’d also like to knit Thermal from Knitty. And, of course, I could go on and on and on

Your Uptown Boot Socks are gorgeous, what a great choice of yarn. Same with the Cable Rib Socks, the tweed really does perk things up.
Your Summertime Tunic looks good to me, it might just take some time to grow on you.
I am starting to think a lot about fall knitting, I never really did any summer knitting. I want to make something cozy and cabled, maybe Rogue or Starsky. I also have been thinking about Flicca. That should be enough to keep me busy all the way till spring.

The boot socks are incredible, but I really like the summer tank on you. I was just thinking how much better it looked on you, than in the IK picture, when I read that you don’t think it suits you. :0)

trust me, it is more than possible to fall in love with a pair of socks, or sock yarn, or even … a sock creature !
the microspun top is very cute … how did you like working with the yarn? i tried it once, but found it sticking to my needles … perhaps i had the wrong combination of yarn and needles though.

Oh yes, it is quite possible to fall in love with a pair of socks. Especially ones as cute as yours. Since I personally have knit no socks for myself, my sock-love is all for smartwool. Though I’m pretty sure if I had socks as cute as yours, I’d fall in love with those instead.

I love your uptown boot socks! I’ve been wanting to do those ever since I saw them in the mag. I love the color you choose!
