Hits and Misses

Some of you knew right away what my little sneak peek project was—Wicked!

wicked

I decided to go for the pocket version, since it seemed to have more of that little tomboy feel, which is right up my alley. The only mod I made was to do the bottom cuff in basic 2×2 ribbing instead of the seed stitch that matches the pocket trim.

It was a really quick knit, and I love the final result. The best part about it—I actually used stash yarn! About 2 1/4 skeins of Cascade 220 in Dark Colonial Blue (#9327)

Another too-fast-for-blogging project I completed this week.

  • project: Buttony Sweater
  • source: ohmystars.net
  • yarn: Handpaintedyarn.com Pure Merino Six Ply Bulky- 3 1/2 hanks
  • colors: Marron Wax
  • needles: US#11 straights
buttony

Somehow my version didn’t come out as cute as the original, or this version here, which is exactly what I was going for.

buttonybuttony

I think it’s simply too big, maybe needed a few more buttons, and I should have added waist shaping to avoid some of the boxy feel. But the merino is sooo soft, and it’s a nice comfy cardigan, if a bit baggy/bulky. I would definitely give this one another try, maybe just a smaller gauge/needles would do the trick?

When you’re a bit iffy about your newest sweater, what else is there to do but comfort yourself with some new socks!

monkey socks

The monkey craze has hit me, I’m loving this pattern. The yarn is the new Kettle Drum semi-solid that will be in the sKNITches shop sometime soon. A superwash merino/ bamboo/nylon blend, with a lovely sheen. This is the Amethyst colorway.

And there are still more projects jumping on and off the needles!

LOVE BOTH SWEATERS!!!!! Too bad you are not as satisfied with the red one, but it looks like a great cozy sweater. Crap - now I HAVE to add that to my what to knit next list.

Once again you inspire with your impeccable taste and mad knitting skillz! Both sweaters are fantastic.

I can’t wait for that sock yarn to become available–I am really into solids right now as I am tired of the vagaries of variegated.

nice sweaters. I really like the red one- I like a bit oversized, boxy cardi to keep me company with a bit of a chill. sure- some are “cool and flashy” but some are warm, soft and reliable…

Gorgeous projects! I quite like the look of your Buttony (though you think it boxy) I thinks it gorgeous. I especially like the color! i am working on Monkey as well…it’s a bandwagon, really.

I love that you knit all the things on my dream “to knit” list.

    Girl after my heart.

I love the one from Oh my stars. I very much want to make it too- but like yourself, I would want to do waist shaping. Thing is, I have never ever altered a pattern, and it freaks me out a little. I am a knitting baby compared to you my friend.

I love the purple of your sock.

i think wicked looks amazing! i really like the modifications you made to the pattern. i also really do like buttony, even if it is a litle big you can still use it as a very attractive cozy sweater and also as a substitute for a jacket on chilly fall days…love!

Holy crap, you’re a fast knitter. They look great, wicked is wicked and I adore the color of your buttony sweater, I’m sorry you’re not so happy with it :(

So many things in such a short time! WOW! Wicked looks fabulous. What a cute knit. I just finished a Zephyr knit myself and was really looking at some of the other patterns…
I think the Buttony is still cute and quite wearable. A smaller gauge would have probably yielded the result you were looking for. However, I think it really does look good. I love the yarn you used with the slight variegations ;)
