63 Sweaters and Nothing to Wear…

…okay maybe not 63 sweaters. Everywhere I turn are posts about stash knitting, practicality, frugality and self-restraint regarding yarn buying, but somehow massive amount of yarns have found their way to my greedy little doorstep (well someone’s gotta take up the slack in yarn sales). Despite having no idea when I am going to find time to knit all of these (anyone know how to actually grow a few more pairs of arms?), let’s take a look at all the lovelies that have bled my wallet dry.

karabella lace turtleneck

Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk dk, color #10 a pretty pale blue, will someday become this Karabella sweater, advertised in IK’s winter issue. On sight, I knew I had to have it.

cabled spiral pullover

Debbie Bliss Merino dk, waiting to become the Cabled Spiral Pullover, from Knitting Nature.

james

Aurora 8 in Federal Blue, and Noro Silk Garden in color #203 (love that lime!), for James, from Noro Knits. The plan is to modify it so that the body of the sweater alternates the two yarns in stripes like the sleeves.

I thought I had plenty of projects lined up for the winter months, between all these and socks, but then of course, WEBS had their year-end sale too….

elsebeth lavold yarns

…meet my new stockpiles of Elsebeth Lavold Angora (color 19), Chunky Al (color 4), Classic Al (color #8). With these, I think that I now own more than half of the Lavold yarns on the market. I’m looking to use the Angora for a oh-so-soft Seamless Hybrid like these others. Who could resist?

And I can’t forget the 11 balls of RYC Soft Tweed in Mist I also snatched up, for the Gull Stitch Cardigan from IK.

So how many sweaters is that? Too many, I know. And that’s not mentioning the Cash Iroha I’ve got saved for Hourglass, and Blue Sky cotton hidden away for Licorice Whip. As for New Year’s resolutions, I never make any, but I will say there seems to be no reason why I’d need anymore yarn this winter….so long as sock yarn doesn’t count. Of course there’s always summer yarns, so I make no promises.

zipper

And yes, we have zipper, so the Hudson Cardi will be finished soon.

Seriously, if anyone knows a quick Chia pet way to grow extra arms, I’m listening (which makes me wonder, do they make a Chia sheep??)

Your stash looks so organized and pretty!

I could swear I have seen Chia sheep, but not recently. They should really bring those back.

    MMMMM….YARN….

I will have to live vicariously through you as I am one of those yarn dieters. I have been pretty good so far…I mean…for the past 19 days that is. Shouldn’t I be getting a coin or something for lasting this long?

Forget frugality. That Elsebeth Lavold angora is yummy stuff - I made a sweater of it and love it, although it’s so warm I can only wear it on the coldest of days.

With so many great sweaters in your knitting pipeline, who cares how much yarn you have! Sometimes I think we’re part craft-people and part collectors — a nice combination.

Yes! I have seen the Chia sheep at Walmart around Christmas time. And there’s a Chia Garfiel the Cat, and a Chia man head, and a Chia pig. I bet you can find one online…
