A New Year Already??
Time’s just been buzzing right past me lately it seems. I was planning on a mini-review of 2006 projects, but things have been furiously busy around here, and actually, everything on my FO list to the right, from the Lace Leaf Pullover on down was finished in ‘06.
I will however, present a little memory lane photo of all the socks that were knit, as my “what I learned” tribute.

5 of the 7 are actual pairs (though I couldn’t find 1 of the darker blue socks….not sure where it’s hidding itself).
Also received a lovely prize package from zknitter yesterday, from her blogiversary contest. A bunch of little goodies (that I of course forgot to photograph before opening everything
) and this amazing yarn was inside:

Lang Yarns Silk Dream, and is it ever! It is just the softest yarn. I’m already swatching it for just the right stitch pattern for a scarf. It’s exactly what I’ve been wanting for a bit of luxury around the neck this winter, so thanks for the contest Z!!
Progress of the alpaca striped hoodie is at an ultimate standstill. After joining the sleeves to prepare for yoke knitting, the slightly roomy fit turned into ‘just too darn big to deal’. Rip, rip rip, and so we start again. I won’t bore you with the not-much-progress photo.

The Hudson cardi is all ready for seaming and hood knitting, but I am still on the hunt for a zipper, Joann’s is looking more and more like the place to find one, so hopefully we’ll see a nice warm finished sweater soon.
And yes, despite all this lack of speedy progress, another sweater has found it’s way on to my needles:

This is a Kim Hargraves design from A Treasury of Rowan Knits. Not a lot of great things in this book (it’s got quite a few styles that just scream 1984), but I’ve always liked this one. I’m using Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed in Dove.

And lastly, my first two attempts at plying my spinning.

lavender merino/tencel and white alpaca…

…and dark chocolate alpaca, with the same white alpaca that I dyed in some caramel-like tans with hints of red. I guess spinning on a wheel also qualifies for skills learned in 2006.
More lovely yarn pics coming soon, as year-end sales totally took advantage of me this time….really…I had no control over any of it. ![]()

From socks, to sweaters, to spinning you’ve been busy! I love the chocolate & white alpaca you’ve spun and think the Hargraves sweater is going to be a cozy classic. It fun — and inspiring — to look back over the year(s) and realize how much we’ve learned. A little bit at a time really adds up.

You never stop amazing me with what all you can do. Love all the socks. For someone just getting a her new spinning wheel, you did a brilliant job on this fiber. Also, like the new sweater you are starting with this Jo Sharp.

What wonderful socks you made. I love the different color combos too. Your spinning wheel looks beautiful, and so does your handspun yarn. I love the chocolate colored one. Your CPH looks great too, nice color.
