Hood rat
Central Park Hoodie in all its glory.

This was a really great project to knit, very easy cable work, and it comes together fairly quickly (that is, if you don’t get obssessed with socks in the middle of it).

I’m really happy with the cascade 220, my first time knitting with this yarn. It softened up enough after a good soaking, and has nice stitch definition. A good old stand-by wool, for sure. The only downside to this pattern is that it seems to run snug. Had I known this initially, I’d have gone up a size, but blocking gave just the stretch I needed to get it to close pretty comfortably.

I didn’t even have to add my usual extra length to the sleeves or anything. And it’s nice and warm! Anyone looking for a simple, wearable cardi this winter should check this one out. It’s a keeper!

Your finishing looks great, too.
What color of Cascade 220 is that? Oh, I just went back in the archives — it IS the same color I have in stash (and I got mine at KH too). I’m happy to see that the color is so perfect (sometimes things look different all knit up, you know?)!

that makes me want to knit another one! mine is definitely on the roomy side because of the 4″ between the sizes, but i think i like the more fitted look, especially if it’s a next-to-skin soft enough wool. i think i also prefer the button band vs. no closure or single button closure, so i will be shopping for buttons and rip & reknit my bands.
it’s sooooo pretty!
knitter girl runs off to her stash to see if she has anything to knit another hoodie with ….

OK, LOVE the Central Park Hoodie!! I esp. like the button action. I was just getting ready to cast that sucker on, now I officially can’t wait! I also like Cascade 220, an awesomely stalwart classic standby.

That hoodie is THE perfect thing I’ve been looking for. All of the cardigan-type things I’ve found in stores just don’t appeal to me as much. I’ve got a question for you: is this something a relatively beginner knitter could do? I learned how to knit about a year ago and I really only finished my first project this past weekend (the Fetching gloves, actually, that you’ve done too), but I’ve had endless practice knitting and purling (I’ve started a simple stockinette scarf God knows how many times). So is this something you think I could do? The next projects I’m tackling are the Thuja socks and Cigar gloves from Knitty. But if you think I could do this, I might just have to order the magazine with the pattern and make it for myself. ^_^

How much Cascade 220 did your CP Hoodie take? I am thinking of doing one in one of their heathered green colors.
