A Sock and a Pair

This is my “cat paw” pic trying to show off the star-shaped toe of my new embossed leaves socks. :)

embossed leaves

I’m actually thinking of making these a christmas present for an aunt of mine, I think she’d really love them, and turns out they’re quite loose on me.

I’m learning that due to my ridiculously skinny ankles, I probably need to go down a needle size for most patterned socks. So I should have used US #1’s instead of the reccommended 2’s. Of course swatching would have told me this, but swatching for socks…..just can’t get that through my stubborn head. This was my favorite sock pattern so far, so I will definitely be all about another pair of these, whether I give these away or not.

One banana split garter rib sock also done. I had decided not to do the garter rib on the top of the foot just to see the plain stockinette. I absolutely love how well the stripes turned out, especially around the heel.

Just look at that cute little brown heel bottom!

How I’m going to get the second one to match up, I have no idea, but I’m gonna try.

Already I’ve cast for the basketcase socks (done in new sKNITches iguana colorway).

And the koigu…it was calling me sitting all pretty in it’s litte yarn cake, so the pomatomus has jumped onto the needles as well.

I’m still intimidated by all that charting, but fingers crossed that it’s easier than it looks. Wish me luck!

Lovely socks! The Embossed Leaves look wonderful, and that Banana Split colourway looks like fun. I really like the way that basketcase is coming along :-)

I wonder about Koigu for the Poms, though. I would have thought Koigu would be a thick. Have you tried that cuff on?

I like them all. Really. I cannot wait till my hubby’s boring Trekking socks are done so that I can dive into some bright self-striping goodness.

Wow, what great projects! I am holding myself back from starting the embossed leaves socks myself, but yours look great! I’ve seena few otehr “loose” pairs of embossed leaves too, wondering if I should go down a needle size as well (they’ll be a gift pair, so even more complicated!) :)
