In the Pink

Well, picovoli is complete. It’s a great fitting top, a really easy to understand pattern, but with enough interest to keep things moving along. Even though the straight edging is more my style, I really wanted to try learning the picot edge. I do think it makes the top a bit cuter, but my skills weren’t perfect, and you can see my neckline hangs down a bit, and there’s some curling overall. I’m sure this has something to do with my lack of picot-ing practice.

I do think my neckline is wider than most, and surely I must have screwed something up along the way, but I’ve looked over the pattern and can’t figure out where things went awry. Anyway, it’s cute, and I’d like to make it again sometime with the tivoli style edge.

Also, I’ve made some great progress on the Ms. Marigold. I wouldn’t call it the most exciting knitting, especially the point I’m at now, just straight stockinette, inch after inch to the bottom. But so far I’m really liking the fit and I think this will be a good one when all’s said and done.

The dye obsession grows on and on. But I’ll go into that really soon.

Your tops look great! Looking forward to seeing a completed Ms. M…maybe if you sleep on it, the stockinette will magically finish on its own…

Picovoli looks great, I don’t think that you did anything wrong, mine curls a little at the bottom, even after blocking, not sure what to do about it. I love the Jacquard dyes and am jealous of your haul there.

Very nice Picovli. I think the picot edge, it softens it up.

I had that “hanging down neck” problem on my Diana from Melissa Leapman’s book (a bigger problem than you have that I can’t see). I ended up binding off a little sooner the side away from where I joined the neckband to the sweater. That took care of the problem because the edge that laid on my neck had to stretch a bit. Hard to explain–but it worked. Your Picovoli looks GREAT.

have you tried ironing picovili? I think if you give it a nice hot iron, you’ll be pleased to find it behaving much better!
