Size Matters
The current status of my Ribbon X-Back—too darn big.

I suppose it was bound to happen. I had read of so many others having similar problems with this pattern when substituting yarns. And even though I knit 2 sizes smaller than my actual size, it’s still far too big around the chest, causing a very droopy “X” to hang down in the back. Looks like a trip to the frogpond for ripping back the last few inches and straps. So much for that quick summer knit.

On a happier note, my yarn for Ms. Marigold finally arrived. I’ve chosen Jo Sharp’s Soho Summer dk, hopefully making it a lighter, more summery style than the yarn reccommended.
Funny thing, this Jo Sharp yarn looks identical to the Elsebeth Lavold Cotton Patine I’m using for Picovoli (just finishing the picot trim on that one). Same cotton-y suede-y feel, same splittiness, the only thing different seems to be the label.

Not that I’m complaining, since I loved the cotton patine, but here’s a side-by-side comparison for those who’re interested. You judge.

Next time, I promise a finished Picovoli (I’m just not gonna mention those Jay*****rs, but you know, slow and steady).

They may very well be the same, some brands get their yarns from the same mills. They just dye it differently. Lovely color for Ms. Marigold, can’t wait to see it knit up!

You are right, they do look exactly alike. I know your MS. Marigold is going to be so pretty in this green.

Too bad about your ribbon x-back
I love the color you chose for you Miss Marigold. Interesting about the yarn being so similar to the cotton patine, thanks for the comparison.

Hmmm, I’m not sure… Why don’t you mail the yarn to me so I can have a closer look
I’m working on Picovoli too, I can’t wait to see yours!

[…] After finishing Orangina, I thought I’d better start putting all those finishing touches on all the wips that are lying around in limbo. Finish the crochet trim on the fluffy cami, rip back the top portion of my ribbon x-back and make it smaller. Finally add the turtleneck to the carraway sweater. Maybe even get cracking on my nautie that hasn’t been touched in like forever. Those good intentions lasted all of about 10 mins. So, yeah, presenting my progress on Rusted Root. […]
