blog copycatting
A while before this sweltering heat kicked in, I had posted about all my projects lined up for summer knitting. I’ve been moving along pretty well with some of those, but a terrible thing keeps happening. I keep reading other people’s blogs.
It seems like every other day, I see some new and wonderful project someone else has started or planned and I just ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ till I end up wanting to make it too. Is this project envy? Is this Groucho Marx “I wouldn’t be a member of any club that would have me” syndrome? Or is everyone else such an inspiration that I just have to imitate (it is the best form of flattery, after all). Knittypants with her washcloths, and posting about that licorice whip sweater. Annie, with her padded footlets and orangina. Zknitter and Knitpastis with those adorable fixation socks, and for that matter, everyone else with gorgeous socks, more eye candy than I can bear. When I’m waist high in yarn at the end of the summer, I’m blaming the lot of you. Ahem. Here’s my progress so far on picovoli:

Knit with Elsebeth Lavold Cotton Patine, this yarn is lovely feeling.

The color is Ash Rose (004), sort of a beige with a hint of rosy pink. It’s a bit splitty to work with, but well worth it for it’s cottony softness.

Also swatching for orangina, with an acidic yellow Rowan 4ply. Yellow is ordinarily not a great color on me, but it was on sale at Unwind, and they were out of orchid, so I’ll learn to deal. And yesterday my very first Knitpicks order arrived, hurray! (There’s also 2 skeins of pumpkin essentials hiding behind that pile).

Sounds like quite a bit of shopping being done lately huh? Only 1 more box to go, my Ms. Marigold yarn, provided of course I don’t stumble upon some unbelieveable cannot-miss-it-sale in the immediate future (I could always just stop browsing, but what would be the fun in that?)

I know what you mean, everytime I look I see something else I want to do, and really I can only knit so fast, but I guess my brain doesn’t quite get that.
I love the color you are using for Picovoli, I think that is going to my next knit to work on. And I’ve been wanting to try the Cotton Patine for a while now, everyone says it’s so soft. Maybe next summer
I love that little wave the lace makes on Orangina, I was swatching it the other night, but I don’t think I can make it without some serious mods, so now it’s simmering on the back burner while I think it through.

I used to keep a list of things I wanted to knit, but gave up when it exploded into knitting beyond my lifetime. I don’t normally wear yellow too, but your acid yellow is going to be one pretty orangina.

Great. Thanks for making me want to cast on Picovoli. *dramatic sigh*
(I so agree with you, since I have been blogging, my stash is bursting and I can’t knit fast enough. Glad to know that my posts and projects are causing the same trouble to someone else. hee hee)

You made me laugh. You are being influenced as much as I am by all these lovely knitted things everyone’s doing. I am trying to stick to knitting this sweater but my brain wants to knit Voodoo Wristwarmers, washclothes, legwarmers, airy scarf and believe me it doesn’t stop there.
I can’t wait to see your Orangina knitted up with Rowan yarn. It is really showing off the details of the stitches.
