KAL-ing & Dye-ing

Joined another KAL, this one for the green gable top. The second my yarn arrived, I had to jump right in.

It’s a really great pattern, and in the round (YAY! I hate weaving in ends). The lacework adds just enough detail to make this a special top.
Also had some fun with a bunch of Easter egg dyes yesterday that I got on clearance. Here’s a little pictorial of my day.

And here’s the finished product, one large 440yd hank of Patons classic wool.

Here’s how it striped in the hank once I split it back into two.

Don’t know what I’ll use it for, any ideas?

Wow, the koolaid yarn looks great– is it grey yarn to begin with? Much less bright/obnoxious than my easter egg dying with white yarn– I like it!

Your dyed yarn looks great! I’ve never tried to dye with the Easter egg dyes and I think I have some lurking in the pantry. Love your Green Gable in black! My yarn came Friday and I’m hoping co for mine tonight :o)

Great job! I love it! (hehe I have some PCW to use too!) Thanks for the color tips on knitty too as I will be using green a lot! I..um..er..have a bit of EEdyes..at 12cents per KWIM :)!
One question, you had a 440 ball of Patons, did you add two skeins together for dyeing or purchase it that way. Both skeins are lovely, but the second one is the best! Yeah..next weekend I am soo dyeing!

Thanks for everyone’s comments! The Patons I started with was called Neutral Mix. I soaked the yarn in vinegar and water, then microwaved it to set the colors. Both skeins were tied together for dyeing, then I split the hank back up into two 220yd hanks, and pretty colors emerged.

I totally relate to the escalating obsession with socks; I now have a six month socks plan (which I keep revising as I see more socks and SOCK YARN…)
