My summer vacation… | home | Tank girl…

by the light of the moon…
In the past couple of weeks, it seems I’ve been on a knitting rampage. Insomnia does that, to me at least. So now a completed sweater, never even posted about, and I’ve begun to make some headway into the summer projects.
First is Knitty’s Tubey. I started it slowly, figuring it would be my “when I’m watching tv” knitting. Long stretches of stockinette and ribbing, I thought it would take forever. I don’t know what happened, I just sped right through it.
I knit the medium and it should have been the small. Overall, a nice pattern, but very hard to calculate the sizing. The shrug seemed to stretch across the shoulders just right, but by the time I tried it on, I could tell it would be a bit loose in the upper portion. Still, it’s pretty and I’ll probably wear it anyway. I sort of juggled the colors up a bit, and I think the striping is nice. Done in some luxury aran cashmere yarn from a.c. moore.
And here’s my progress on the Chickami, a pattern I purchased last summer, but never got around to. More stripes, this time using a 6-2-4 color pattern I mapped out on paper first. Basically the two row stripe is always the color that’s coming next. Kinda cute, no?
Amazing how much faster these little tanks knit up compared to full sweaters. It’s moving along nicely (just about up to the armholes) so expect it off the needles really soon.
BTW, if you haven’t checked out the new issue of Knitty, do so. There’s some great stuff!

The Tubey came out great! It doesn’t look to big to me.
I really like your stripe design for the Chickami. Beautiful colors, too!

Wow!!!! Tubey looks great! I love that yarn too! What a bummer on the sizing…it looks good, maybe it’ll shrink a teeny tiny bit
Chickami looks great! As soon as I get done w/Cutaway, I gotta make it. Hope to start Cutaway this week, gotta swatch first!
