Whole Lotta Knitta

This is what happens when you don’t blog for a month.
DROPS jacket

I’m trying my best to get lots of long overdue projects finished already. Here’s what I’ve been able to keep my focus on.

DROPS jacket

project: DROPS Jacket (not) in Eskimo/Silke-Alpaca
source: free pattern
yarn: Cascade Eco Wool - 2 hanks
color: #8019 Antique
needles: #10.5 needles

I had a ton of gauge issues with this little number. The Eco wool I thought would work for the chunky version, really leaned more towards the Aran.

DROPS jacket

Being a child of ’70s, I was totally wary of the whole 3/4 sleeve thing at first (remember all those wide peasant sleeves? Ick.) But now, total modern love.

And from far back in my wip list, here is a completed Carpenter.

Carpenter

project: Carpenter by Kim Hargreaves
source: A Treasury of Rowan Knits
yarn: Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed - 8 hanks
color: Dove
needles: #8 & #7 needles

Carpenter

The delay was mostly due to turtleneck issues (I was getting an ultra wide neck, nothing like the book’s pic). I just didn’t feel like frogging and fixing, so it lounged—for 2 months. But after buckling down and reworking the decreases, I’m finally done, and after all, I really like this sweater for its super wear ability and simplicity.

Carpenter

Last but not least, the cabled mystery revealed! (Okay, a bit too much drama :) )

Gedifra cabled sweater

project: Gedifra Model 509
source: Gedifra Highlights 033 pattern book
yarn: RYC Cashsoft dk - 9 balls
color: Thunder
needles: #5 needles

I know another 3/4 sleeve. Well I followed the mods of this amazing knitter, but I did intend long sleeves, just totally ran out of yarn, of course.

It’s a little on the large side, my fault. But it’s warm and I’m content. Though I can totally see me redoing this as a more fitted longsleeve in like a cream, really get those cables to pop.

Whew! There are a couple more pics of most of the projects over on Rav. Oh yeah, and the Phildar sweater is going speedily too. Three cheers for chunkier yarn!! I’m on the sleeves, and I totally hope to finish it by the end of PS Fire (if all the end-weaving doesn’t kill me). And Twisted Tweed socks you say? Well, I do have 1 finished…you can’t have everything. ;)

Wow that WAS a whole lotta knitting!! I am really liking that Drops jacket….just in time for Spring and Summer of course :O) Will have to jump on that when the weather is going back to the cold side.

Those cables on the last sweater are great. Reminds me of the architecture of a Gothic cathedral. Lovely!

Wow! Those are some stunning sweaters. If I didn’t blog for a month I don’t think I’d have nearly as much booty to show for it.

I think I like Carpenter best, though it might just be that I love the color.

Wow, I’m totally impressed. Thanks to your inspiration I will most definitely pick up my UFO baby sweater this weekend. The seams may be a bit funky, and it may no longer fit the intended baby, but I can do it.

I understand this completely. I always have a couple of projects going that all seem to finish at once. Your sweaters look wonderful! Very wearable too! I love how Silk Road knits up. I have a sweater’s worth of it in stash and I am saving it for THE perfect pattern/yarn match.

How in the world did I miss all these? They’re all so different, and I love them all. That Carpenter looks great - I love the fit and the subtle waist shaping, so wearable. And that cable is awe inspiring - so awesome.
