Officially done!

I hope everyone who celebrates had a great Thanksgiving! After a whirlwind weekend of eating and knitting, here is my second NaKniSweMo project completed!
Official sweater

project: Official NaKniSweMo 2008 Sweater
source: available here
yarn: Cascade 220 - 4 hanks
color: Pistachio #8234
needles: #6 & #8 needles
Ravelry page

Official sweater

A very adaptable pattern, it was great to work on a top-down raglan again, so simple to make it as fitted or loose and comfy as you like.

Official sweater

I was so proud to be able to use up some Cascade 220 from the stash for this one too, and only 4 skeins!

Official sweater

Thanks to knitgrrl for a super-fun NaKniSweMo 2008, and all the participants who made some amazing sweaters this year, definitely go check them out!

And speaking of stashes, thanks to the ability of Ravelry to see just how much yarn I’ve got stored in every nook and cranny here, I have realized that my stash has grown to a whopping 205 yarns!! (and that’s not even all the yarn.)

So tomorrow or Wednesday there will be some destashing around here, all kinds of yarns, sock yarns (some hard-to-get), a bit of everything. It will be hard to part with them, but it’s time to face the facts that I will never get to knitting all of it, so they’ll be listed here and on Ravelry too. Maybe my loss will be your gain!

Black Gold

NaKniSweMo is coming to an end this year, and it’s all about the sweaters right now.
Malabrigo Cables

project: Sweater with Cable Patterns
source: Rebecca Magazine, #28
yarn: Malabrigo worsted - 5 balls
color: Tortuga
needles: #8 needles
Ravelry page

Malabrigo Cables

I cannot say enough how much I love this sweater. Basic black, combined with some fun cables and oh-so-soft heavenly Malabrigo. What more could anyone want?

Malabrigo Cables

It was a fast and easy knit, made even easier by my only doing the cable pattern on the front, since I knew I only had 5 skeins of this beautiful color to work with. The sleeves of this pattern come out way too big as written, so I did a little creative increasing to make them a more practical size.

Malabrigo Cables
And because there’s still a bit more time before NaKniSweMo comes to a close this year, I just had to try and cast on for a second dose of cable fun.
Official sweater
This is the Official 2008 NaKniSweMo sweater, designed by Elaine Hilliard and Shannon Okey. Proceeds from the pattern are going to the Berea Animal Rescue, a no-kill shelter, so how could I resist? This is in Cascade 220 in the Pistachio colorway, perfect knitting from the stash (and that stash is getting WAY out of control—more on that next time). The top-down construction is making this one go by very quickly, so I hope I can have it done before the month is out.

More Malabrigo is coming soon too, oh yes, LOTS more Malabrigo. Have you seen this? Already queued!
